I. Classification by Angle (Most Common)
1. Common Angles
45° Elbow
90° Elbow (Most Used)
180° Elbow (U-bend)
2. Special Angles
22.5° Elbow
60° Elbow
30°, 75°, 135° and other non-standard angles (customizable)
II. Classification by Length Radius (R)
1. Long Radius Elbow (LR)
Radius = 1.5D (D is pipe diameter)
Most commonly used in engineering
2. Short Radius Elbow (SR)
Radius = 1.0D
Suitable for installation areas with limited space
III. Classification by Nominal Diameter (DN) (Common Sizes)
Commonly used elbow diameter models (applicable to carbon steel, stainless steel, PVC, PP) Pipelines (e.g.):
DN15 (1/2")
DN20 (3/4")
DN25 (1")
DN32 (1¼")
DN40 (1½")
DN50 (2")
DN65
DN80
DN100
DN125
DN150
DN200
DN250
DN300
DN350
DN400 Larger diameters such as DN500~DN1200 are also common in large-scale projects (generally custom-made parts).
IV. Classification by Wall Thickness (Schedule)
V. (Applicable to stainless steel and carbon steel pipe fittings)
Common wall thickness grades:
SCH 10S
SCH 20
SCH 40 / 40S
SCH 80 / 80S
SCH 160
XXS (Thickened)
The greater the wall thickness, the stronger the pressure resistance.
V. Classification by Connection Method
1. Butt-welded elbow: Most widely used, high pressure resistance, suitable for medium and high pressure pipelines.
2. Socket-welded elbow: Mostly used in small-diameter, high-pressure systems.
3. Threaded elbow: Commonly used for small diameters (DN15–DN100).
4. Flange elbow: Less common, mostly used in special equipment or maintenance scenarios.
5. Adhesive/hot-melt elbow (PVC, PPR): Used in home decoration and water supply and drainage projects. VI. Classification by Material
Carbon Steel Elbows (CS)
Stainless Steel Elbows (304/316)
Alloy Steel Elbows (P11, P22, etc.)
PVC, PPR, HDPE
Cast Iron Elbows
VII. Examples of Commonly Used "Standard Names" in Engineering
For example:
DN100 90° Long Radius Welded Elbow SCH40
DN50 45° Threaded Elbow
DN200 180° Long Radius Elbow
PPR DN32 90° Hot Melt Elbow

Advantages of seamless carbon steel elbows
The raw material for seamless carbon steel elbows is seamless steel pipe. The main production process involves heating and piercing a round tube billet, then rolling it using three-roll cross rolling, continuous rolling, or extrusion to set (or reduce) the outer diameter of the pipe. After cooling, it is straightened. It undergoes direct hydrostatic testing (or flaw detection), is marked, and then stored. Schxx represents the wall thickness grade; 180e (S) indicates a short-radius 180° carbon steel elbow, and 180e (L) indicates a long-radius 180° elbow; 90E (S) indicates a short-radius 90° carbon steel elbow, and 90e (L) indicates a long-radius 90° elbow; 45

180° carbon steel pipe elbow manufacturing process
The most common manufacturing process for carbon steel pipe bends is hot forming. Hot forming is divided into two types: hot push bending and hot heating bending. Our 180° carbon steel pipe bends are manufactured using the hot push process. The process flow diagram is shown below.

What are the advantages of using sliding flanges?
A sliding flange is a type of slip-on flange. Slip-on welding involves welding only the outer layer, not the inner layer. Slip-on flanges are typically used for medium- and low-pressure pipelines with a nominal pressure less than 2.5 MPa. There are four types of sealing faces for slip-on flanges: flat face, raised face (RF), FM/M, and tongue and groove (TG). Flat face is the most widely used and the cheapest. A sliding flange is a slip-on flange with a short neck. Carbon steel sliding flanges, or SO flanges, are generally cheaper than welded neck flanges, which is why customers often choose sliding flanges. As the name suggests, a sliding flange fits over a
