Six processing methods for stainless steel pipe fittings

Jul. 17, 2025

Stainless steel pipe fittings are a type of pipe fittings. They are made of stainless steel materials, so they are called stainless steel pipe fittings. They include stainless steel elbows, stainless steel tees, stainless steel crosses, stainless steel reducers, stainless steel pipe caps, etc. According to the connection method, they can be divided into four categories: socket-type stainless steel pipe fittings, threaded stainless steel pipe fittings, flanged stainless steel pipe fittings and welded stainless steel pipe fittings.

Stainless steel pipe fittings are a new type of pipe fittings with a wide range of uses. Generally speaking, there are several processing methods:

1. Forging method: Use a forging machine to punch out the end or part of the pipe to reduce the outer diameter. Commonly used forging machines include rotary, connecting rod, and roller types.

2. Roller method: Place a core in the stainless steel pipe, push the outside with a roller, and perform round edge processing.

3. Stamping method: Use a tapered core on the punch press to expand the pipe end to the required size and shape.

4. Bending method: There are three commonly used methods. One method is called stretching method, another method is called stamping method, and the third method is roller method. There are 3-4 rollers, two fixed rollers, and one adjustment roller. Adjust the fixed roller spacing, and the finished pipe fittings are bent.

5. Rolling method: Generally, no mandrel is used, which is suitable for the inner round edge of thick-walled pipes.

6. Bulging method: One method is to place rubber in the pipe, compress it with a punch on the top, so that the pipe bulges out; the other method is hydraulic bulging forming, filling the middle of the pipe with liquid, and the liquid pressure bulges the pipe into the required shape. Most of the production of corrugated pipes uses this method.

Advantages of seamless carbon steel elbows

The raw material for seamless carbon steel elbows is seamless steel pipe. The main production process involves heating and piercing a round tube billet, then rolling it using three-roll cross rolling, continuous rolling, or extrusion to set (or reduce) the outer diameter of the pipe. After cooling, it is straightened. It undergoes direct hydrostatic testing (or flaw detection), is marked, and then stored. Schxx represents the wall thickness grade; 180e (S) indicates a short-radius 180° carbon steel elbow, and 180e (L) indicates a long-radius 180° elbow; 90E (S) indicates a short-radius 90° carbon steel elbow, and 90e (L) indicates a long-radius 90° elbow; 45

180° carbon steel pipe elbow manufacturing process

The most common manufacturing process for carbon steel pipe bends is hot forming. Hot forming is divided into two types: hot push bending and hot heating bending. Our 180° carbon steel pipe bends are manufactured using the hot push process. The process flow diagram is shown below.

What are the advantages of using sliding flanges?

A sliding flange is a type of slip-on flange. Slip-on welding involves welding only the outer layer, not the inner layer. Slip-on flanges are typically used for medium- and low-pressure pipelines with a nominal pressure less than 2.5 MPa. There are four types of sealing faces for slip-on flanges: flat face, raised face (RF), FM/M, and tongue and groove (TG). Flat face is the most widely used and the cheapest. A sliding flange is a slip-on flange with a short neck. Carbon steel sliding flanges, or SO flanges, are generally cheaper than welded neck flanges, which is why customers often choose sliding flanges. As the name suggests, a sliding flange fits over a
