1. Carbon Steel

Features:

High strength and low cost.

Good weldability and machinability.

Good wear resistance, but poor corrosion resistance.

Applicable occasions:

Used in high-pressure piping systems in low-corrosive environments.

Transportation of non-corrosive media such as oil, natural gas, steam, etc.

Common grades:

ASTM A105 (forgings)

ASTM A106 (seamless pipes)

2. Stainless Steel

Features:

Excellent corrosion resistance, especially in acidic or alkaline environments.

High strength, high temperature resistance, and strong oxidation resistance.

High cost and more difficult to process than carbon steel.

Applicable occasions:

Corrosive environments such as chemical, marine, and food processing.

High-pressure systems that require sanitary standards or extreme temperature conditions.

Common grades:

304 (conventional corrosion resistance)

316 (marine environment, chemical industry)

321 (high temperature environment)

3. Alloy Steel

Features:

By adding alloying elements (such as chromium, molybdenum, nickel, etc.), the strength, wear resistance and high temperature resistance are improved.

It has high fatigue strength and pressure resistance.

Corrosion resistance is between carbon steel and stainless steel, and varies according to the alloy content.

Applicable occasions:

High pressure and high temperature environment, such as boilers, pressure vessels, petrochemical equipment.

Applications that need to withstand high mechanical loads.

Common grades:

ASTM A182 F22 (low alloy)

ASTM A335 P91 (high temperature alloy)

Material selection principles

Working pressure and temperature:

Carbon steel is suitable for medium and low temperature environments; stainless steel and alloy steel are suitable for high temperature and high pressure occasions.

Medium characteristics:

Corrosive media require stainless steel or specific alloy steel; carbon steel is suitable for non-corrosive media.

Economical:
