Material description in the pipe material table (I)

Dec. 13, 2024

I. Pipe fittings

Pipe fittings are a general term for parts that play the role of connection, control, direction change, diversion, sealing, support, etc. in pipeline systems.

Steel pipe fittings are all pressure-bearing pipe fittings. According to different processing techniques, they are divided into four categories, namely butt-welded pipe fittings (with and without welds), socket welding and threaded pipe fittings, and flange pipe fittings.

Pipe fittings refer to parts used for direct connection, turning, branching, diameter reduction, and end use in pipeline systems.

Including elbows, tees, crosses, reducers, pipe clamps, internal and external threaded joints, unions, quick hose joints, threaded nipples, branch pipe seats (tables), thread plugs (pipe plugs), pipe caps, blind plates, etc., excluding valves, flanges, fasteners, and gaskets.

The material list of pipe fittings mainly includes style, connection form, pressure level, wall thickness level, material, specification standards, specifications, etc.

II. Common classifications

There are many types of pipe fittings, which are classified here according to purpose, connection, material, and processing method.

By purpose

1. Pipe fittings used to connect pipes to each other include: flanges, unions, pipe clamps, clamps, ferrules, throat clamps, etc.

2. Pipe fittings that change the direction of the pipe: elbows, elbows

3. Pipe fittings that change the diameter of the pipe: reducers (reducing pipes), reducing elbows, branch platforms, reinforcement pipes

4. Pipe fittings that increase pipeline branches: tees, crosses

5. Pipe fittings used for pipeline sealing: gaskets, raw tape, hemp, flange blind plates , pipe plugs, blind plates, heads, welding plugs

6. Pipe fittings used to fix pipelines: clamps, towing hooks, lifting rings, brackets, brackets, pipe clamps, etc.

According to the connection

1. Welded pipe fittings

2. Threaded pipe fittings

3. Socket pipe fittings

4. Clamp pipe fittings

5. Socket pipe fittings

6. Adhesive pipe fittings

7. Hot melt pipe fittings

8. Curved elastic double melt pipe fittings

9. Rubber ring connection pipe fittings

According to the material

1. Cast steel pipe fittings: ASTM/ASME A234 WPB, WPC

2. Cast iron pipe fittings

3. Stainless steel pipe fittings

ASTM/ASME A403 WP 304-304L-304H-304LN-304N

ASTM/ASME A403 WP 316-316L-316H-316LN-316N-316Ti

Low temperature steel: ASTM/ASME A402 WPL3-WPL 6

High performance steel: ASTM/ASME A860 WPHY 42-46-52-60-65-70

Cast steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, copper, aluminum alloy, plastic, argon argon asphalt, PVC, PPR, RFPP (reinforced polypropylene), etc.

4. Plastic pipe fittings

5. PVC pipe fittings

6. Rubber pipe fittings

7. Graphite pipe fittings

8. Forged steel pipe fittings

9. PPR pipe fittings

10. Alloy pipe fittings: ASTM/ASME A234 WP 1-WP 12-WP 11-WP 22-WP 5-WP 91-WP911, 15Mo3 15CrMoV, 35CrMoV

11. PE pipe fittings

12. ABS pipe fittings

Production method division

It can be divided into pushing, pressing, forging, casting, etc.

Manufacturing standard division

It can be divided into national standard, electrical standard, ship standard, chemical standard, water standard, American standard, German standard, Japanese standard, Russian standard, etc.

According to the radius of curvature

It can be divided into long radius elbow and short radius elbow. Long radius elbow means that its curvature radius is equal to 1.5 times the outer diameter of the pipe, that is, R=1.5D; short radius elbow means that its curvature radius is equal to the outer diameter of the pipe, that is, R=1.0D. (D is the diameter of the elbow, R is the radius of curvature).

If divided by pressure level

There are about seventeen types, which are the same as the American pipe standards, including: Sch5s, Sch10s, Sch10, Sch20, Sch30, Sch40s, STD, Sch40, Sch60, Sch80s, XS; Sch80, SCH100, Sch120, Sch140, Sch160, XXS; among which STD and XS are the most commonly used.

Advantages of seamless carbon steel elbows

The raw material for seamless carbon steel elbows is seamless steel pipe. The main production process involves heating and piercing a round tube billet, then rolling it using three-roll cross rolling, continuous rolling, or extrusion to set (or reduce) the outer diameter of the pipe. After cooling, it is straightened. It undergoes direct hydrostatic testing (or flaw detection), is marked, and then stored. Schxx represents the wall thickness grade; 180e (S) indicates a short-radius 180° carbon steel elbow, and 180e (L) indicates a long-radius 180° elbow; 90E (S) indicates a short-radius 90° carbon steel elbow, and 90e (L) indicates a long-radius 90° elbow; 45

180° carbon steel pipe elbow manufacturing process

The most common manufacturing process for carbon steel pipe bends is hot forming. Hot forming is divided into two types: hot push bending and hot heating bending. Our 180° carbon steel pipe bends are manufactured using the hot push process. The process flow diagram is shown below.

What are the advantages of using sliding flanges?

A sliding flange is a type of slip-on flange. Slip-on welding involves welding only the outer layer, not the inner layer. Slip-on flanges are typically used for medium- and low-pressure pipelines with a nominal pressure less than 2.5 MPa. There are four types of sealing faces for slip-on flanges: flat face, raised face (RF), FM/M, and tongue and groove (TG). Flat face is the most widely used and the cheapest. A sliding flange is a slip-on flange with a short neck. Carbon steel sliding flanges, or SO flanges, are generally cheaper than welded neck flanges, which is why customers often choose sliding flanges. As the name suggests, a sliding flange fits over a
